Cousin Time

Every other thursday I get to watch Cousin B and Q for the day! Mine love their cousins more than anything and it is a blast to see them play and love on one another. Plus I get some snuggle time with Qman although he is getting pretty independent.

Silly sayings

That show, Kids say the Darndest Things, is right on the money. I could keep a book of quotes these little guys come up with.

In this picture - they found some Easter eggs and grass. They thought it would be a blast to hide them all over the living room.  But first...Shadd "What should we do with this lettuce?"

I just started laughing and so did they.

Then Ellsyn requested an "alligator" on the way in the house from the garage. I was confused and she was getting upset with me so I just asked her to show me what she meant and she quickly went to the garage fridge and picked up a gatorade.  Close to gatorade I guess.

Again they just crack me up. Lately the saying has been "Holy Jalapenos". I think it has something to do with D's new found love of eating jalapenos on just about everything and even getting Sage to give one a try. He didn't care to much for it and now just says, Jalapeno and Hot as if thats the only corresponding word that would ever fit. Oh dear.

Game Time

We are finally to the stage where Shadd loves and plays games constantly.

We spend at least a portion of each nap time playing battleship, trouble, crazy eights, connect four, checkers, etc.

And he is getting good and explaining and teaching games to Ells too.

Even Sage man gets in on the action sometimes

Typical Sage

Nickname:
Destroyer of all things

It typically goes down like this...

Don't get me wrong - he picks up great. He just loves to clear out bins, boxes, off tables, etc.

Another Nickname:
Wild Man

I mean he is one aggressive tea drinker. Notice the chips in the tea set and we no longer have a tea pot as he broke it one day. Good thing dad got ells a replacement tin tea set for valentines day.

Mosh pit

One day I thought...why not.

Yep. You guessed it. Collect all of the thousand pillows we have laying around this house and couch cushions and just jump off the couches onto them.

It was fun and we had some good laughs. As well as it killed a good hour of idle afternoon.

And isn't that what winter is all about.

A lost tooth

It doesn't seem possible but we have entered a new world.

Out with the baby teeth. That just means my baby isn't quite a baby anymore.

Shadd was complaining his teeth hurt. At first I ignored the complaint. Not sure what the deal was. Second time I had a closer look. Yep. A couple loose teeth front and center of the bottom row. With some wiggling and a tug from Dad (thank goodness) he lost the first one.

He was super excited. Even took the tooth in a baggie to show off to his grandparents and the class at church. Then the infamous tooth fairy brought him a dollar that night. Lucky duck.

Then we were eating lunch today and he says I think this is a tooth as he holds up the second. It came out with a bite of strawberry. So I guess the tooth fairy will visit again tonite. Two nights in a row.

Big stuff for Shadd and new adventures for mom and dad.

He's growing up. Just hard to believe.

Trying to beat those winter blues

Brr....

Each morning we wake up and wonder if today will be the day. The day we get to finally venture outside and play. But each morning it is as freezing as the day before. I mean have we ever had this many sub zero or in the single digit days.

We just need a break. We've literally tried everything. The pot of boiling water is a trick that if allowed they would want me to do each and every day. We attempted trying to freeze bubbles but to no avail. We even heated the bubble solution. So most days we resort to crafts. It gets messy and I kinda go nuts and Sage is really a nightmare but still we give them a try.

We also brought a little snow inside. Sage ate most of his but the other two had fun, coloring it and sculpting it.

We are also in love with the Olympics. We have made a few crafts, colored some coloring pages, watched youtube videos and tried to stay up to date on the latest during the evening in between all the great basketball games on.

We also made some yummy valentine cookies with Frama and Aunt Kelsey. The frosting part was of course the best.

this is a triple decker

Even mommy has been hitting some crafts.
a giant moss L - maybe for the front door this spring/summer

Currently Shadd is in love with mazes....we ordered a few books. He's awesome and he has a pile from the printer that he chips away. He loves a good puzzle I guess.

Thankful Thursday

I have been so bad at these lately and they are one of my favorite things to read in our now printed blog book. If only I know could bite the bullet and print the previous two years. Hard to believe I have been blogging that long.

Crazy.

Anywhoo...

1. playtimes with friends
2. snowdays - because that means we have an excuse to stay inside and get to play with friends who are in school
3. insanity - its getting hard and harder - today i had to stop three times to go to the bathroom, might be too much jumping but the sweat is oh so worth it and my eating habits well they are terrible currently.
4. shadd's sweet tender heart toward others and why they act the way they do - "maybe they don't know Jesus...we should pray for them"
5. our attempt and playing telephone to work on listening skills - i think ells has a ways to go
6. the olympics
7. beautiful snow
8. warm home and fireplace
9. a girls night - much needed and such a fun time with friends of old
10. the beth moore book "feathers from my nest"- such a great reminder of the joys of parenting from someone looking back

i'm sure there are many more - but just so thankful I have Him to constantly go to...no matter the circumstance! He is always there! Thank you Lord!
