Valentines Day

we love valentines day - just a fun holiday to celebrate the people in our lives.

this year we made valentines and each kid picked something to add to the fun. sage glow sticks. shadd laffy taffys and jokes and ells colored all her valentines for all her classmates and cousins and added her favorites starbursts or skittles.

Ells got to make a fun valentines box too.

we got the kiddos summer shoes this year for something a little different. flip flops and crocs. thankfully it has been nice enough for sage to sport his crocs with socks (which i would have died if I ever saw someone else let their kid do this) most days if there isn't snow on the ground.

and the grandmas spoiled them and their classmates/friends and cousins! what a fun holiday!

Z is 18mo

Someone asked me the other day how old Z was...I paused to think as I almost answered 1. But he really isn't just 1. He is 18months. What? How is that even possible?

Well it should be evident.

He loves my phone - he can dj up music, play videos, review photos, call people, FaceTime. You name it he has got the swipe of the iPhone down.

That being said he hates the word, "no" or when I take away any said device. In fact, most of the time he just sneaks off with something and finds a spot behind a chair or couch to play in peace and quiet. The iPad or my phone can't just lay on the counter. Nope. Gotta be up and put in a cupboard.
So now you know why i may not respond very quickly somedays.

He's good on the iPad too. Even mastering some games already. Like kinda knows what to do on Temple Run. I mean What, I'm even terrible at that!
Even experimenting with the photo affections

Then there are the phrases he has started.
Last night, he said "one more" just like Shadd used to do when requesting multiple multiple valentine treats.
He loves the book, Freight Train. And he finishes the book with "gone".
He loves all the animals sounds and loves for you to make funny sounds or faces when reading any of his favorites.
He has just started to say the kids names which is fun too. And baby, looking under my shirt?

He's not a huge talker but partly because its not that quiet around here either. I'd probably be shocked if it were just him and I one day.

He is funny.
All my kids say, "we have the funniest babies"

He likes to eat up at the table - not just slid up in his chair. Nope up standing and stealing food off anyone else's plate other than his own.

He loves to brush his teeth - sometimes i'll just find him in there.

He battles me on a lot of things. I'm probably a lot more go with the flow and don't quite get as upset as I did with Shadd about things like throwing his food or throwing himself on the floor when he doesn't get his way. I think you just kinda learn they grow out of these things and they don't last forever.

He stayed up late and partied with me one night and watched the isu game since dad was at the game - he cracked me up sitting and clapping and cheering along! He's quite the ham sometimes!

He still falls asleep sometimes in the car - and doesn't transfer at all anymore. big bummer!
Still a great night time and nap sleeper though!

And he spends a lot of time with his big bro - fighting and playing
\

Still can't believe you are already 18 months and gonna be a big brother - there were moments we thought you were the last and would be the youngest but here comes a new one to kick you out of your solo room probably and your crib! Hold on to that sweet lovable spirt little guy!

Surprise Party for Grandma D

D's mom had a big birthday this year so we thought it would be fun to throw a surprise party.

We all hung out in the boys room downstairs and waited for her to arrive.

D answered the door and told her the kids were hidding.

I think we got her!

We are so thankful for her and all that she does for us! It was fun to celebrate her!

Happy Birthday Grandma D

Baby #5 Update

We had our midway point ultrasound this last week!

I still can't believe we are to the half way point already. Kinda seems like yesterday I was in a bit of shock after reading the double line on the pregnancy test.

We didn't find out what we were having this time (or at least I didn't) and Derrick is saying its a puppy for all those who are asking. He is a tough egg to crack! He wanted to know and I didn't so we settled at a win win for both of us!

I'm not quite sure what my guess is at the moment but lots of others are guessing girl. Wishful thinking maybe for Ells sake.

Either way - a miracle of God's!

Those ultrasounds never cease to make me stand in awe and thanksgiving of my Creator! What an amazing God we can love and know! He knit that child together in my womb and I can see the baby's four chamber heart all complex and vast and the baby kicks and turns inside me giving me nice reminders of the little person I'm carrying for the next few months only to deliver and mother for the rest of his/her life.

Such an amazing truth and honor to bear children. One I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to do and experience. One I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

Trying to relish all the things that come along with pregnancy as this is my last time around. The growing belly, the having to go to the bathroom all the time, the weird cravings, the lack of energy, the desire to do random things like nest, etc.

So far the baby weighs almost a pound! This one is active in there just like all my others. I love all things citrus (common for me). Finally can drink coffee again which is nice. Now I don't have to nap every day although I still like to squeeze in a few during the week.  I love to bake like normal. Try really hard not to eat all the things I make. Have some random cravings like blueberry muffins, caramel frappes and milk duds (that was a weird one). And those girl scout cookies in the freezer call me name multiple times a day! Kinda hoping I just eat them all so I don't have to fight the urge all the time!

But all in all feeling super good. Still able to do the 21 day fix workouts with D each morning, although I have to modify more and more each week. Too many jumping jacks and I will probably pee my pants. Plus the ab exercises seem a bit pointless and sometimes I think I'm getting real close to breaking out D's tshirts as my belly hanging out isn't quite like the people on the video. Can't wait for the spring weather to walk with the boys in the mornings!

Trying slightly to make all the rest of the house decisions and not get to overwhelmed. I feel like I have lost a little bit of my decision making with this pregnancy. Feel just wishy washy all the time!
Probably the hormones. Poor D is the one who puts up with that on this end!  Kinda just wanna be done and moved in and then change things as they need it! Also feel super overwhelmed that with the mess during trim at the house. I could never be a trim carpenter. I can't handle dust and crap everywhere - it kinda makes my skin just crawl. So I kinda see where ells gets it when someone comes into her room and destroys it or whatever sets her off. She is particular like her momma!

I'll do my best to keep posted on this baby growing inside me but before you know it - he or she will be here and we will be a big family of 7. Geez! Thats kinda crazy!

Ells goes to the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe

I still can't believe how old this little girl is getting. Lately she is a really big help around the house and loves to do things just her and I so we are striving to carve away more girl time.

One of our Christmas gifts to the kids was me time. Ells' gift was a trip to the playhouse with her momma. I volunteered to let D take this one but he knows I love a good play. I think it was that theatre class in London and seeing the Lion King on broadway. Sometimes I think I would be a city girl to the core and easily live overseas if D would be adventurous at all.

So we headed out to the show.

It was so good - in fact we will be getting season tickets next year. We sat in the front row but there is not a bad seat in that place.

Then we went out for dinner at Smokey Row. Ells got an orange pop in a bottle and I had a smoothie that brought back all my college memories in one day!

It was a blast spending some quality one on one time with this little/big chica. She has a big piece of my heart!

Winter Break

Just some random photos that sum up our winter break and a couple days off we had in January. Those were kinda fun and unexpected.

This guy is known as the garbage man - he is most often found after being released from his high chair at the kitchen table scouring whatever leftovers he can find.

We have a love for games and when we get new ones for Christmas it is always fun to play.

I love it when my bigs love and play with my littles. Z must have enjoyed some one on one time with Shaddy too.

Dad loves a good dance party and why not all stand on the coffee table. Geez that thing must be strong!

For my birthday I got some sweet cards from my kiddos. A yummy breakfast, toes and shopping with two of my favorite girls and dinner out with my hubs. It was a great day!

Just the boys on Tuesday's for an hour while Ells is at dance. They make me laugh with the games and craziness they come up with.

The garbage man again this time pre dinner I believe.

Dad thought everyone needed a Jets jersey. Since tebow doesn't play for them anymore they are clearing out jerseys at excellent prices. D even got me one. Who knows maybe next year I will break it out for a big game or something!

Another new game - Catan Jr. - Its been a fun one to play with the kids especially since we love the big one.

This girl and her craziness can't be beat. Crazy glasses and she is the hoarding queen. Tons and tons of stuff in that girls room I tell ya. The other picture is her shop - she has been creating art and selling it. The prices are a bit steep like $60 or so a picture. But she does take credit cards and you can even purchase them online :). Sage has started selling some too. His a bit cheaper 3 cents I believe. My kind a man!

Playing outside on a beautiful day where the temps were up in the 40s. It didn't last long!

Doing our newest fun gift from Frama and Papa - a kiwi crate. We made a treasure chest to hide and some maps to find it. Also got to create some other kinda maps and pretend we were pirates. The bottom picture is our pirate flags and our pirate faces.
