Sage turns 4

Can you believe this little guy is 4?

Just a little bit bigger but still the same ole sweetie!

So whats new with this guy!
He loves snacks - granola bars, fruit snacks, oreos and mostly junk
He loves Mario - like everything and anything Mario. He loves super Mario the best! He's not great but he's gotten a ton better since they actually let him play rather than saying he was Mario with a non working controller only for Shadd or Dad to be playing Mario. Deceptive yes and he was pretty disappointed in how terrible he was at first!
He loves to do school - like all the time (however he struggles a bit with memorizing letters and numbers and sounds but he has made huge progress.
He loves to pester Z - probably his number one thing that gets him into trouble ( and whining)
He's sweet, tender hearted, funny, likes attention, wild, and a tad crazy!

He wanted to celebrate with his two best friends - the girl shaye and the guy micah (well it didn't work for m so him and shaye celebrated with monkey joes and some ice cream!

It kinda shocked me but they wanted to just go after about an hour of jumping and running around.

then we of course we got ice cream (chocolate - sage's favorite) and got to play with everyone else when we returned.
Dad doctored up some pancakes for the big day at Frama and Papa's house (thankfully frama had candles on hand)

It was Easter this year so we had celebrations but Grandma D made it special for Sage and made him a cake with Oreos (another favorite) and he got to open up a present from Aunt K and Uncle T.

Plus when we got home he got to open his presents from us, which hopefully i'll update this post with a few more pictures off of dad's phone soon! But if i wait til i remember it might be the end of may!

Shadd broke his arm

So early April we had our first run in with a broken bone. Shadd was playing soccer with a neighbor and got kicked in the arm by the ball (mind you). Complained and cradled his arm for the rest of the night and the next day didn't want to go to school.

So we headed to the urgent ortho clinic. Mind you mondays are not the day to go! 1.5 hours later in the waiting room with these three crazies...But we got in and diagnosed with a a couple breaks in his right arm.

So he got a pretty sweet orange cast! He picked the color. And he thought it was pretty cool for about 1 day. Then it got annoying, rubbed sometimes playing basketball. I really should have taken a video of his granny shot knockout style with our neighborhood boys!

He got some signatures and well a bit bummed that he couldn't play soccer. We had one moment of crying watching his team play his friends in a scrimmage. Thankfully he could practice and write still at school.

After 4 weeks - all healed up!

And he got the cast off! Happy day at our house! He seems to be as good as new too!

Easter

Happy Easter from the R gang...we are so lucky to live by both sets of grandparents we get to hit up the Easter festivities twice plus do ours at home which always ends up pretty crappy because well prego mamas are tired after holiday celebrations and maybe they eat too much!

The kids had fun hunting eggs!

even though it looks like they didn't - Sager crying that he didn't find many! He had a bag full!
And I love the littlest searchers...

And enjoying their loot! This year Frama and Papa gave them gift cards to amazon so that was fun to see them shopping on the iPad for random things! But then a few days later it made for a real treat! Ells picked card stock!

And then we were off to the L family to celebrate after church!
Of course I failed to get a picture of all 4 of them in their Easter gifts which they wore to church,  other than Ells who actually had an Easter dress. Aren't those have faith shirts the cutest! Sweet Tees is where I got them and they have some of the cutest stuff!

Grandma D and Papa G hid some candy all over the house and then eggs outside! Even some gold dollars in the eggs! They had a blast like always!

Its always fun to celebrate Easter! What an amazing day! The day Jesus died for our sins (yours and mine) and then rose from the grave, conquering death and defeating sin once and for all! What a reason to celebrate!

Spring Break

Spring Break was a little different this year - mom felt terrible most of it! Yuck!
But we still managed to have a little fun!
We hit up the zoo with our cousins and free cone day at DQ (double bonus)

Not to mention we had a little off road mishap (slightly soft ground made for an interesting turn around with the kids in the van). All because these two trucks blocked the whole road when they could have easily parked one after the other! Long story but funny for sure!
We picked up trash along the bike trail with our other cousins
We played outside - it was really nice a few of the days (windy enough for kites too)

We napped (all of us a couple of days)
I got to take this big guy out for an early breakfast in honor of a stellar report card! And d and ells are headed to pancheros one night to celebrate hers!
Plus St Patty's Day - why not just rock a green shamrock! And thank you Pinterest for keeping us busy all morning doing crosswords and coloring sheets and even reading about St. Patrick!

We got to host friends for the tip off of march madness - everyone even z filled out a bracket at our house. We cheered the clones to a couple big wins.

Frama and Papa took the bigs to Zootopia
And we got to see lots and lots of friends which is always the best part of spring break!

Plus sage loved having the kids home and so did momma even if I was exhausted and didn't feel awesome!

Big 12 Tourney

This year we went on our annual vacation - D and I went with a couple of friends to the Big 12 tourney! (next year I vote for a bit warmer - although nursing babes make it not as much fun)

We had fun, even though ISU lost first round. I didn't take many photos as I felt pretty crappy (nasty cold) the entire time. But we shopped, golfed and watched ball.

Winter Basketball

Shadd played basketball again this winter! His love for the game has grown a lot this year! He and his buddies are out shooting daily on our hoop (we are getting our money worth there I think). They play knock out a lot and love to play games like Pig and 2 on 2. It gets a bit competitive but overall they have fun!

Shadd's team this year improved a ton! It was super fun to watch them grow! Shadd even had a game where he made 12 pts. Crazy! The improvement in two years has been incredible!
